A More Sure Word of Prophecy

“We HAVE also A MORE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts” – 2 Peter 1:19 KJV

The second epistle of the Apostle Peter, much like that of the Apostle Paul to Timothy, can be likened to the words of a dying father. He stated clearly:

“Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. Moreover, I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance” – 2 Peter 1:13-15 KJV

In this epistle, Apostle Peter was putting the Church in remembrance of the things they have both learned and seen him do. The words of a dying father are more precious than all his entire words to a child. He shared on the things that made him who he was. It is, therefore, expedient that we carefully examine the words of the Apostle under the leading of the Holy Spirit to the Church.

In the first chapter of Peter’s epistle, he speaks of the promises of God freely given to the Church; that the divine power of God has given unto us all things that pertain to life and godliness. However, the emphasis of the chapter was on the scriptures or the WORD OF GOD which they have believed all this while. There is something about the word of God that the Church ought to understand and to function in that realm in this walk of faith. The Bible is not a history or storybook. It contains the words of God!

“The word of God has been written upon several materials with age or time. It was first on stones, then cloths or scrolls and then the final compilation as the Bible.” Peter said this of the word of God.

“For we were not following cleverly devised stories when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty (grandeur, authority of sovereign power)” – 2 Peter 1:16 AMP

The word of God is a MORE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY. The prophecies are the promises and will of God for your life. They are promises destined for you to reign in life. The Church has missed it on the function of the Office of the Prophet and the gifts of the Prophet or the prophetic. So many people have replaced their function with that of the Word of God. Understand that, the Office of the Prophet is given to guard the Church, and maintain order and sanity. The Bible talks of the foundation (Doctrines or teachings) of the Apostles and Prophets (Eph 2:20). The gift of the Prophet or the Prophetic is to edify or ignite and stir up faith in the Church (1 Cor. 14). It must be understood that the functions of the Prophets in the Old Testament are not the same as the New Testament though they all operate in the realm of the prophetic.

It must be understood that Prophets don’t manufacture the results or answers to our life’s questions; they rather stir up FAITH in us through the divinely inspired spoken word. So, then it is FAITH that brings Answers not the Prophet. However, Prophecies are subject to failure. It doesn’t matter whether spoken by the mouth of a true Prophet, IT CAN FAIL. IF THE WORD OF GOD CANNOT PRODUCE RESULT IN YOUR LIFE, THEN NO AMOUNT OF PROPHECY FROM ANYBODY WILL EITHER PRODUCE RESULT IN YOUR LIFE.

“…. but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away” – 1 Cor 13:8 KJV

All things, including Prophecies, will fail but only the Word of God shall remain. Glory to God! The word of God is not just a prophecy. It’s a MORE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY. It means that it cannot fail. It is unmovable, unconquerable, unstoppable, unrelenting. The word “sure” translated also means trustworthy, OF (dynamic working) FORCE, firm.

“For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the WORD OF GOD ENDURETH FOR EVER. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you” – 1 Peter 1:24-25 KJV

Stick to Word! Confess the Word! Live the Word. The opening scripture reading follows as this,

“…….Whereunto ye do well that ye TAKE HEED, AS UNTO A LIGHT THAT SHINETH IN DARK PLACE, UNTIL THE DAWN, and the day star arise in your hearts: 2 Peter 1:19 KJV

It says that if we take heed to the Word, it is like Light that shines in the darkness. Oh boy! Hold unto the Word while it’s dark, while things are messed up. For he continues to say, “UNTIL THE DAWN”. Until the Dawn! FOR AS LONG AS NIGHT WILL NOT TARRY FOREVER, Hold unto the CONFESSION OF YOUR FAITH, Which is THE WORD OF GOD. STICK TO THE WORD. For Your Dawn shall Surely Come! Glory to God. And he continues to say, ” AND THE DAY STAR” SHALL ARISE IN YOUR HEARTS. That’s the place where you know, that you know, that you’ve got the answer. Glory to God. WHEN YOU STICK TO THE WORD YOU SHAL SURELY COME BACK WITH A REJOICING TESTIMONY. HALLELUJAH TO JESUS, GLORY TO GOD!!!

CONFESSION: I am what God says I am. I will do what God says I will do. I am a victor and not a victim. I am the head and not the tail. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. When men say there is a casting down, I declare there shall be a lifting up for me in Jesus’ Name. Amen!

You are blessed.
