WHY THE WORD OF GOD? PT 4

Spread the love

(The Reality of the Word)

Reference: John 17

“Sanctify them by the truth; your WORD IS TRUTH.”

John 17:17 NIV

The Word of God is Truth, not merely a truth subject to change or circumstances. Unlike scientific hypotheses that may evolve with time, God’s Truth stands independently, unaffected by external factors. In the prayer recorded in John 17, Jesus emphasizes the sanctifying power of the Truth, declaring, “For thy Word is Truth.”

The Call to Sanctification

Sanctification involves being set apart, marked by uncommonness. The Church is called to function in the realm of the Word, remaining separate from worldly influences while steadfastly confessing their faith in the Word. The Truth, being absolute, is not subject to situational changes. The Church is called to be set apart by the unchanging Truth of God’s Word. Speak the Word, believe the Word, and be sanctified by it.

Truth as Reality

The Greek word translated as Truth in this context also carries the meaning of Reality. Understanding that the Word is the Reality is crucial for operating in the realm of success. While acknowledging the reality of your circumstances, grasp that the Word is the final authority in your life. Jesus proclaimed, “I am the Way, the Truth (Reality), and the Life.” The Word of God is not a shadow but the substance, the reality of God’s promises to the Church.

The Word: More Real Than Your Situation

Believing that the Word is more real than your situation is key to overcoming challenges. Jesus’ life was the fulfillment, the reality of God’s promises. When you walk in the understanding that the Word of God is more real than your circumstances, you navigate through trials with the assurance of a glorious testimony.

Confession: “Father, thank you for your Word. I am what your Word says I am, and I believe in its power. Through Christ, my strength, I live a life full of the Reality of the Word of God. Amen.”

You are blessed.
